Psalm 119:92 says, "If Your Word had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction."
If you have been around Cassidy Designs for a while, or even if you are brand new, you can probably tell The Truth means so much to me. It has a special place, not only in my mind, but in my Heart. If it had not been my delight, I truly would have perished in my affliction. Thank You Jesus for the Truth of who You are. Truly.

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the book of Psalms in the Bible. It has 22 stanzas with 8 verses each, written in an Acrostic Poem style. Each stanza highlights each letter of the Hebrew Alphabet.
To the eye, Psalm 119 appears repetitive. But to the heart, Psalm 119 is the love of God. It is written by an unknown Psalmist who truly loves + treasures The Word of God - which is our Gift from Him that helps open our eyes to know His heart + who He truly is.
My commentary referred to the chapter as a whole to be like a diamond that must be slowly turned on every side in order for its beauty + light to be truly appreciated. Another commentary referred to it as not a chain, but a string of pearls; perfectly placed side by side, each of equal beauty worthy to be considered.
My mentor posted that she was going to read 8 verses of Psalm 119 each day for 22 days. So I decided to join her! And I'm inviting you to do the same. I am only on verse 2, and it is already changing my life.
Truly appreciating, understanding, and praying for help in applying these truths to my walk with The Lord, is shifting something. Its moving the word from my head, to my heart.
Verse two reads, "Blessed are those who keep His statues and seek Him with all their heart-"
The words that stand out to me here are blessed, keep, His, statues, seek, all, heart. So basically all of it. And this is only one of 176 verses!
In response to this verse Charles Spurgeon said, "Blessedness is ascribed to those who treasure up the testimonies of the Lord.... we must first get a thing before we can keep it. In order to keep it well we must get a firm grip of it: we cannot keep in the heart that which we have not heartily embraced its affections."
Keeping His Word within our hearts is done not because we have to. But only because we want to. Because we love to.
Keeping is more than just knowing the word, it’s embracing with love. It is doing the word. In James 1:22-25, we are encouraged to not merely be hearers of the word, but doers of the word.
To be a doer of the word. Is to be one who listens to the word. One who values the word. One who honors the word. Obeys the word. Walks in the word. Trusts in the word. Believes the word.
Doers allow The Word to do what He intends to do - come, live, dwell, walk, transform, and give life to us. For Jesus is The very Word in flesh.
“Doers look intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."
Have you ever looked intently into the perfect law that gives freedom? Have you ever thought about how a perfect law could even give freedom? What would change about your life if you did?
I want to encourage you this week to ask The Lord what this looks like. And then to look into the perfect law that gives freedom. To continue in it. To do what it says. For we know He promises blessing to those who do.
Share in the blessedness of God this week by humbly choosing to write His Word on your heart. For Proverbs 3:3 says, "Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart."
Hold mercy and truth close to you, closer than a pendant around the neck. Never to leave or forsake you. Keep it. Hold it firmly. Delight in it. Rest in it. Find life in it. Because it is full of Life. Abundant. Everlasting. For Jesus is The Truth!
And write it on the tablet of your heart. We all know what it means to write. There are even benefits to writing things down, such an improved memory, solidification, deeper clarity, assist in thought process. Something I found interesting, however, is that “write” can also mean “to cover, fill, or fill in by writing.”
Covered is a special word the Lord has so kindly taken the time to speak to me in many ways. He has taught me the gift it is to cover ourselves in Truth, as with clothing. But I never realized - writing truth on our hearts is covering our hearts in the writings of God. Which are beautiful. Unfading. Unchanging. Powerful. Timeless. Constant. Eternal. Undefeated. Incomparable. Life Changing. Precious. Valuable.
For thousands and thousands of years, God has protected His word. For instance, when house fires occur, I have seen Bibles left unscathed. Or tornadoes have hit, and shreds of homes sit peacefully beside a Bible that has not a page withered. The cover stays perfectly in tact.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Guard your heart for from it flows the spring of life.”
We are called to protect our hearts. How beautiful to cover our hearts with the divinely protected word of God. Unscathed. Peaceful. Without wither. The word will never perish or fade, though the grass around it does. So come whatever may - with His word written all over our hearts. Covering us - our hearts will be wholly guarded by the power of God. Which has and will be protected forever.
What if we wore Truth as the beautiful, endearing jewelry it is? Like shining diamonds and strings of pearls - worthy to be admired? By us and those around us?
What if we kept the word w/ love? Stored up in our hearts as the Treasure it is? Continually delighting in it day and night? Delighting in He who is The Word - Jesus?
What if our heart's protection looked like the powerful word of God written all over every crevice, room, wall, and piece of our heart? With God’s spoken, authoritative, and mighty word completely covering it? Filling it? Drenched in it!
What if the springs of life that flow from within our hearts comes from the very mouth of God? Which only speaks that which is Faithful + True.
Not only would our lives be changed, but those around us would too. I'm convinced. Because once you have tasted that His word is sweeter than honey - you will never desire anything else. Once His truth has saved you from affliction, nothing else will delight your soul but He who is your delight.
This little corner of Cassidy Designs is where I hope to prayerfully share truths He has written on my heart, with the hope that we write truth on our hearts… together. So it’s kept there. Valued there. Trusted. And walked in. I pray we are doers, not merely hearers. And I pray we start by believing in our minds + deep in our hearts, what He has written + sewn into our lives since before the beginning of time… The Truth. How kind is He.
Storing up, keeping, and covering our heart with The Truth… makes it almost impossible to not live out all of our life from that Very Word.
And just as He promises, what a blessed life that will be when we do so! Filled w/ Joy, Peace, Freedom. That lasts. Because He does - The very Word in flesh. Who lived, died, and rose to life just so we would know who He is, glorify Him, be with Him, seek Him forever, and believe every word He says. For each are trustworthy, kind, faithful, pursuing, intentional, and true. Thank You Jesus!
Here’s to Writing The Truth on our Hearts, together! Xx
